In 2015, the United Nations created 17 Sustainable Development Goals that are expected to be achieved by 2030. All 193 Member States of the United Nations agreed on these 17 goals to end poverty, ensure prosperity, and protect the planet this.
In 2022, the United Nations again reminded members to take even more significant steps so that one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved. What are the 17 goals? Here’s the description.
- No Poverty
Goal:
End poverty in all areas. As humans, our well-being is linked to one another. Growing inequality is detrimental to economic growth and undermines social cohesion, increases political and social tensions and, in some circumstances, promotes instability and conflict.
- Zero Hunger
Goal:
To end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. A world without hunger can have a positive impact on our economy, health, education, equity and social development.
- Good Health and Wellbeing
Goal:
Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages. Ensuring healthy living for all takes a strong commitment, but the benefits outweigh the costs. A healthy society is the foundation of a healthy economy.
- Quality Education
Goal:
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
- Gender Equality
Goal:
Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Promoting gender equality is essential for all aspects of society, from reducing poverty to promoting the health, education, protection and well-being of girls and boys.
- Clean Water and Sanitation
Goal:
Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all levels of society.
- Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal:
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all walks of life.
- Decent Work and Economic Growth
Promote sustainable, inclusive economic growth, as well as productive and decent work for all levels of society.
- Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Goal:
Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and encourage innovation.
- Reduced Inequalities
Goal:
Reducing disparities in various aspects, both within the country and between countries.
- Sustainable Cities and Communities
Goal:
Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
- Responsible Consumption and Production
Goal:
Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns at all levels of society.

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its effects.
- Life Below Water

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Goal:
Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions.
- Partnership
Goal:
Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development.
